Ancient cities, sacred temples and slow village moments in Sri Lanka's storied heartland.
About this route
Follow the quiet rhythm of the Cultural Triangle, where climbing Sigiriya at dawn, sharing a home-cooked lunch in a rural village, and wandering through centuries-old temple cities bring Sri Lanka's living history into focus. This five-day journey is designed for curious travellers who want to understand the island's heritage without rushing — with time built in for spontaneous stops, a spice garden visit, and the chance to witness a traditional Kandyan dance performance.
Open any day for what you will actually be doing, where you sleep and how far you travel. Everything here can be reordered or slowed down.
Day 1: Arrival & Negombo Coastal Welcome
Photography coming soon
Your driver-guide will meet you at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Negombo, just 15 minutes from the airport. Depending on your arrival time, take a gentle walk along Negombo's long sandy beach or explore the bustling fish market near the old Dutch canal — one of the most colourful in Sri Lanka. Negombo is a laid-back fishing town with colonial churches, cinnamon-scented air, and fresh seafood restaurants along the shore. End your first evening with a sunset dinner by the ocean, letting the jet lag melt away.
